As the new capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Astana had to have a special building for official events and international meetings. The Palace of Independence was built for such events. This palace serves as the venue for state congresses, forums, conferences and meetings at the highest levels. The Palace can accommodate up to four thousand people. It also has a gallery and a museum, an electronic library and a hall of miniatures, and modern 4D and 360° cinemas. Unique exhibits of antiquity are displayed in the halls of the Palace: Golden Man, Sarmat Warrior, Berel horses and ancient stones with mysterious inscriptions. The third floor hosts the Museum of Astana, which presents the history of the capital and numerous documents, gifts offered to the capital and items of achievements.
